Pink Crane Gets First $5,000 Crane Rodeo Sponsor

Earlier this year, Phoenix Crane's annual "Crane Rodeo" planning committee decided to offer advertising space on our 40-ton pink Terex as a way to raise additional funds for our partnership with the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.  Since 2013, our Pink Crane and annual Crane Rodeo community event has raised over $192,000!  Within a week of making the announcement, our insurance brokers at McGriff, Seibels & Williams, Inc. jumped on the opportunity.

About The Sponsorship

In 2015, Phoenix Crane Rental revived a long-lost employee event that, as it turns out, our entire Phoenix family was very happy to participate in and request again, so we decided to resurrect our Crane Rodeo to promote and raise funds for the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

We are in our 3rd year of the Crane Rodeo and hope this will continue as an annual event that will grow over time as we spread the word about our favorite local nonprofit.  We are still donating 10% of our Pink Crane rentals to the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, and have raised over $192,000 to date.  We’ve also been lucky enough to make Pink Crane appearances this year at the Kennesaw Touch-a-Truck in June and at the Marietta Freedom Parade in July and will have the crane located at the second “Breast Stop” a the 2-Day Walk on Sunday, November 12th in Atlanta. The more we get involved and the more people recognize our Pink Crane, the higher the impact we have on getting big grants in the hands of the nonprofit cancer treatment centers in Georgia that need it the most.  We love the fact that It’s The Journey’s motto is “What’s Raised in Georgia, Stays in Georgia”.

Phoenix Crane Gets a 40-ton Pink Terex

Family-owned crane company boldly shows its support for the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer by painting one of its 40-ton cranes pink and donating a portion of its revenues to the cause.

Mableton, GAAugust 13, 2013 – Phoenix Crane Rental of Mableton, GA proudly announces its support for the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, produced by It’s the Journey (www.itsthejourney.org) with a generous corporate sponsorship and a newly painted and decaled 40- ton Terex crane to show it off.

Family owned and operated since 1983, Phoenix Crane Rental (www.phoenixcrane.com) is spearheading an effort within the crane industry and their community by donating a portion of the revenues generated by the Pantone® pink crane to the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, whose mission is “to strengthen Georgia’s breast cancer community by raising money and awareness for local organizations throughout the state that focus on breast cancer education, screening, early detection, supportive services, and continuing care.”

In addition to general donations and volunteer efforts, corporate sponsorships are critical in deepening and expanding the organization’s impact.  This year alone, the nonprofit awarded grants totaling over $500,000 to 19 breast health and breast cancer programs across Georgia.

In sponsoring the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, and with a shiny new coat of pink paint courtesy of Terex Cranes, the pink crane seen around town contributes substantially to free mammograms for women in need, promotes early breast cancer detection and provides educational programs that offer answers and advice to anyone whose life is touched by breast disease.

“Over the years, we have contributed regularly to a variety of charities, but have not gotten involved with any particular cause with passion, until now” said Mike Phillips, President of Phoenix Crane. “We knew we had the resources to contribute and the willingness to become involved, we just needed the right partner.  Looking at the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, which is also a local organization, we feel we have found our partner.”

National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certified crane operator Jessica Ives has operated the pink crane since its maiden voyage just after Mother’s Day on May 14, 2012 and will gladly continue to do so.  “Phoenix Crane has every intention to keep the crane in operation for the lifetime of the equipment” said Karen Barton, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President.  “Every dollar we can contribute yields a far greater personal and organizational return than anything else we could have gotten involved in.”

ABOUT THE ATLANTA 2-DAY WALK FOR BREAST CANCER

It’s The Journey, Inc. – producer of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer – is a local nonprofit founded 11 years ago by breast cancer survivor, Randi Passoff, who wanted to raise funds within Georgia that stay in Georgia.  Today, the walk covers 30 miles over 2 days and participants stay at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.  Over the past 10 years, It’s The Journey has funded 188 grants totaling over $9 million to support breast health programs throughout Georgia. In March, the nonprofit held a 10th Anniversary Grantee Celebration, during which over half a million dollars was awarded to 19 Georgia breast cancer programs.

This year the Saturday route of 20 miles will take walkers from the host hotel downtown to Agnes Scott College in Decatur for lunch – and then back.  On Sunday, the 10-mile route will take walkers from downtown to the closing ceremonies at Atlantic Station.
